In 2020 when I first started this piece, I was as alone as the letter “i”. Right now I am no longer unencumbered but my views still remain, sorry babe. The shade of dating is a deep crimson red, almost non existent; in a dark dark abyss. This is not to disparage or belittle the successful candidates, but just to be honest, dating is the trenches; there's nothing to write home about and those that have been lucky, I am happy for you.
So why do I describe dating as the abyss, first lets quickly describe an abyss in two words, endless and dark. Dating has lost its spark, namely because there seems to be no end, it just goes on and on, failed talking stage after failed talking stage, and honestly I do not totally blame the individuals involved, but more the climate and time we are dating in. Its HARD! Society is tough and adding dating and dating properly and happily to all the other problems surrounding us and affecting us personally does not add to the situation.

I come back to this with more or less the same views, dating is still the abyss. Now I will not lie, I enjoy being encumbered, especially in this cold cold world, but that is not the question at hand. I started this piece not fully understanding what I meant by dating, now I know. I do not mean the period of being with and experiencing an individual but moreso the act of dating. Yes, actually dating, getting to know an individual; but where we are right now as a society does not foster or encourage intentional dating. If i go into what our governments have done to destroy dating I will not sleep today but I am more focused on us, the datees, we have turned such a beautiful act into competition and who can one up the other, in the said relationship and even outside the relationship. Are we dating for twitter theorems or stupid questions or are we dating to find love, to meet people, to experience people. I am not sure and that is why I say; dating is really the ABYSS!
